This is first time I went to Shodoshima. I have researched Shodoshima when I looked for somewhere to live before Awaji Island. We took Jumbo ferry from Takamatsu to Shodoshima(Sakate port).
There is a art on the ferry deck. This is quite big sculpture artist Yanobe Kenji made. I’m not quite sure what it is.
By the way, we took ferry at 6:15am. And the sun rose from behind mountain. It was very beautiful.
We started from town called Tonoshou. This is first thing we saw in Island. It’s called “Oiwa Island 2”. It’s black and white paint of setouchi scenery in big white dome. This was pretty cool.
Next, we headed to Hitoyama area. There were couple of arts in this area. This is very beautiful area with nature and mountains.
This is called “Dream of Olive”. It’s big dome made of thousand of bamboos. It is located in really nice place, left is mountain and right is rice fields in hill.
Olive shape bamboo dome.
You can go inside this art. It is quite big space and chill out space. We laid down and nice breeze.
People were also laid down and chilling.
I liked how he wove bamboo.
Next we headed north side of Island called Obe. There is sand sculpture on the beach. This is called “Beyond the Border…”. 196(same number of the countries in the world) of sand sculpture were lined up on the beach.
It was last period of summer part of Triennale, so wave broke some of sculptures.
Next we went to Mito peninsula. This place looks very rural area.
This art is called “Mt.Dan Archaeolog…”. You can go inside of sculpture.
We made a mistake about ferry schedule. So we had to go home sooner than we thought. We wanted to see more things but next time…
