Empty House Number One
In the centre of town
This house has a great veranda/roof bit.
The inside still has a lot of the previous occupant’s belongings in it. The seller said she would get rid of it if we rented it. It has been empty for at least 8 years.

This house costs 20000 yen per month. (about a hundred pounds sterling)
This house was about 10minutes by car from the town and shops etc.
The first thing you notice about it is there are 2 massive gravestones in front. (a bit off putting)
The property is made of a main house and a little log cabin besides it.
This property is nice and clean and mostly empty.
It is open plan and doesnt really have a private space for the bed.
The funny log house next door has a upstairs snug and dining table downstairs. we couldnt figure out how to use this property!

15 minutes drive from the town centre and shops.
It used to function as a little shop for passing trade. Its situated on a kind of through road through the mountains. the little street has about 6 houses of which at least 1 had a current occupant (looked kind of dead).
The traditional Japanese kitchen called a ‘doma’ has floor level with outside that can be washed with buckets of water. You wear outdoor shoes and take them off to step up to the tatami level.
The owner was evidently good at carpentry and has made various adjustments over the years.

The house has a sloping series of terraced field-ey bits that could be allotment or garden.
The owner was a bridge engineer and likes to use scaffolding for various uses like supporting grapevines and old fashioned water heating solar panels.
