There is a trail of 88 temples that many pilgrims follow going around the island of Shikoku. So far I’ve been to this one. I believe it specialises in the protection of children and babies. There are lots of offerings to ‘Jizou’ . Its in a wild and lush mountain side. The proper pilgrims sometimes wear a traditional white outfit and pointy hat, and only travel by foot. (its a very long way). Other people, like my mother-in-law, travel by car to do sections of the trail at a time by foot. Other people just drive all the way, or do it in a jumbled order, but really, you shouldnt go anti-clockwise or you’ll raise the dead.
参道からお地蔵さんやお供え物が並んでいる。雨なのもあってか、すごいスピリチュアルな雰囲気に包まれていた。
This graffiti says ‘heart’ in Kanji.
Babies?
Entrance gate with giant traditional woven flipflop.
Its a beautiful power nature and spiritual spot.
