AWAJI / SHIKOKU

Katsurahama Beach and nearby coast, Kochi, Japan.

This is the pacific ocean. It was a great beauty.

仁淀川河口

This is the beach at the niyodo river estuary. I think you can do surfing here, especially at the point where the waters meet, but we came at the wrong time of day for that. The beach is vast and empty.

仁淀川河口

Even though the water is flat the sea still held a lot of power.

This is the bit where the river meets the sea.

土佐犬ミュージアム

Its the Tosa Dog Museum. This area is famous for two things, those dogs and a famous local samurai called Sakamoto Ryoma.

坂本竜馬像

坂本竜馬像

Sakamoto Ryoma statue. The local accent is supposed to sound like him (or any general samurai).

桂浜

Katsurahama beach. It says no swimming but i dont know why.

桂浜

lovely pacific ocean.

桂浜

If you talk about living on the Kochi coastline lots of people mention the possibility of a tsunami. Its a small risk, but a horrible one. I haven’t made up my mind.
